Learning to lead the “Living a Healthy Life” workshop is not hard! You can be part of an exciting community initiative to prevent and better manage chronic diseases within our health system.
Workshop Leaders are dedicated community volunteers who empower people to better manage their chronic conditions and to live a healthy life. Leaders typically have first-hand experience with a chronic condition themselves. They apply and model self-management skills in their own lives.
Why Become a Volunteer Peer Leader?
Volunteer Peer Leaders may be health care providers or lay people and often register for the training in pairs, since all self-management workshops are co-facilitated by two leaders working together. Regardless, they act as peers when leading the workshop, not as health experts.
